The Road to Relief

Drexel Grande client Karen Hartman shared her story of the long journey out of a Vermont civil union in the New York Times. In the midst of widespread celebration of New York’s new marriage equality law, Hartman reminded readers that the “right to divorce is no joke”.  Hartman’s story is personal, but it has very public implications. The lack of relationship recognition in any state limits same-sex couples’ mobility and can even deny them the ability legally to dissolve a failed union.
